One more thing before you start, your role as a mandatory reporter
In most U.S. states, coaches who work with student-athletes are mandatory reporters under state law. That means if you have reasonable suspicion that an athlete in your program is being abused, neglected, or is at risk of harm, you are legally required to report it to the appropriate authority, typically your state's child protective services or local law enforcement. The law generally protects you from liability when you report in good faith.
